17123251389_bed3c3a1ba_b.jpegSometimes, installing energy-efficient and “green” options can cost building owners a bit more in the short term but almost inevitably helps them realize life cycle cost savings in the long run. However, now there is new financial incentive for building owners to take yet another look at hydronic options…a Smart Saver® Rebate program in the Carolinas from Duke Energy.  Duke Energy in the Carolinas started incentivizing smart energy usage some time ago. Now, they are offering a series of rebates for commercial and industrial customers, including both new construction and retrofit options.

For HVAC operations over 1,500 hours per year, you can realize energy savings on the following equipment (for a complete list of savings, click here to see the full Duke Energy rebate program):

  • Pumps from 1 hp to 20 hp: From $122 to $400 per pump
  • Variable frequency drives from 1.5 hp to 100 hp: Up to $100/hp
  • and more!

In addition to HVAC equipment and pumps and drives rebates, there are lighting equipment, agriculture, process equipment, food service equipment and information technology equipment rebates. If you aren't a Duke Energy customer, you should find out if your local utility company offers similar rebates.

Saving energy is one of the things hydronic equipment can do best. If you’re interested in learning more about how hydronic equipment can help you realize life cycle cost savings, click on the link below.
