Tools were crafted with slow and painstaking steps. In time, as humans gained more knowledge and experience, they developed methods to create the items more quickly, perhaps with more advanced tools.   It wasn’t until the Industrial Revolution, which began in England in the 18th century, that the world was introduced to machinery designed specifically for production purposes. The era of modern manufacturing was born. Manufacturing made everything happen faster. Production increased to a rapid-fire pace. Consumers couldn’t get enough. Mass transportation was launched as a way to get things into the hands of people faster. Then the factories figured out ways to speed up production. And the whole idea spiraled up until history led us right to the massive manufacturing industry today. The originators of the manufacturing process may not even recognize it today. We’re in the beginning stages of what has come to be known as Industry 4.0, the fourth wave of the industrial revolution where processes are becoming more digitized and integrated than ever before. Manufacturing has made our world completely new.
