3 Reasons You Might Need a Water Expert for Your Industrial Process

Untitled-2.gifI have lived in North Carolina all of my life. Yet, as a relatively new resident of the Triad area, I am continually amazed at the number of industrial facilities right here in our back yard. Many of these companies are household names that manufacture products most would recognize. Some distribute products that we may not recognize immediately, but it turns out we use them directly or indirectly every day. To protect client confidentiality, I will not use their names here. Just know there are lots of great things produced within the states of North and South Carolina that we should be proud of, and these companies provide jobs for many of our neighbors. The Carolinas are a great place to live and work!

Many of these companies utilize industrial processes that may need water for sanitation, heating or even brewing up something tasty.   But, while each company has incredibly smart and talented people who design, manage and maintain a variety of industrial processes, they may not be water experts.

And, sometimes, a water expert is exactly what you need. Here are three reasons why.

  1. Specific expertise. Many of the people who manage industrial processes are pretty smart engineers who are damn good at their jobs. Yet, even the most brilliant engineer can appreciate the value of seeking help when it comes to something outside their expertise. That’s partly what makes them so smart! At Heat Transfer Sales (HTS), we specialize in providing hydronic HVAC and engineered plumbing solutions for large buildings, mostly in the commercial in institutional markets. These systems and solutions generally involve adding or removing energy from water and moving it around a building. Although we may not be known for providing process water solutions for industrial applications, we do it quite often. Many process water applications are not so unlike the systems and equipment we deal with every day. At HTS, if water touches it in a building, we want to be the experts!
  1. Consultation. While the plant engineer may know that hot water or cooling is needed for a particular process, it may not be obvious HOW to do it. Hot water may be needed for sanitation, melting or keeping something hot. Cooling may be required to keep an injection-molding machine running. A water expert can help! Companies like HTS understand both the latest technologies available and traditional tried-and-true approaches. Our sales engineers are indeed water specialists and will thoroughly explore your needs and offer the simplest solutions possible while leveraging the expertise and high quality equipment from our manufacturing partners.
  1. Equipment. Water conditions must always be considered, such as whether it is recycled from a process or supplied fresh from the municipality. Will you need additional pressure? What is the water hardness? Any particulates or contaminants? Is the system open or closed? Will it recirculate? Is the process batch or steady-state? What temperature do you need? Frequently, we are able to offer solutions that involve boilers, water heaters, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and packaged systems that we use for commercial or institutional applications every day.

The next time you need heating or cooling water for industrial processes, you should consult with a hydronic expert like Heat Transfer Sales of the Carolinas. Chances are, they’ll offer a simple, effective solution that will keep your factory lines running efficiently.
